1. Minimum of 36 hours, guaranteed!
We guarantee to pay salary for a minimum of 36 hours per week. This means that if we cannot offer work, you will still be paid for 36 hours! This is based on an average over a period of 4 weeks.
However, there are some conditions that apply:
- If you refuse offered work, the guarantee lapses for that period
- The guarantee is based on a guaranteed minimum hourly rate from FHS (see hourly wage table)
Hourly wages (effective July 1, 2026)
The salary depends on the type of work you do and the company you work for. All of our clients must comply with the Collective Labor Agreement(CAO). Regardless of what theCAOof a particular client states, we guarantee the minimum hourly wage listed in the table, even if this is higher than the wage specified in the CAO.
| Age | Guaranteed minimum gross hourly wage at FHS July 1, 2026*. |
| 20+ | €14,99 |
| 19 | €13,75 |
| 18 | €13,00 |
You can receive an additional salary on top of the gross hourly wages shown in the table to match the CAO required hourly wage. If you are recruited for a specific position, we will include the CAO specific gross hourly wage in the job posting, otherwise we guarantee that the wage will never be lower than in what the table shows. Overtime is paid extra and each CAO has different overtime rates. Normally this varies between the spoken of 25%-100% on top of your hourly wage.
New CAO: Equal pay for temporary workers
New rules for temporary workers in the Netherlands will apply from 2026. These changes are part of the revisedCAO are intended to ensure that temporary workers receive terms of employment that are equivalent to those of permanent employees at the company where they work.
What does this mean for you?
- Your total package of employment conditions must have the same value as that of permanent employees, even though the individual components may differ.
- If certain benefits cannot be offered directly (e.g., specific fringe benefits), they will be compensated financially.
The aim is to ensure equal treatment and to ensure that temporary workers are not disadvantaged compared to permanent employees. This applies to matters such as:
- Salary
- Surcharges
- Vacation days
- Other terms and conditions of employment
Salary Payment
As an employee in Phase A, you will receive a weekly advance payment and a full salary payment once every four weeks. This ensures that you receive part of your salary sooner, while the full payment is made periodically.
How does it work?
- Advance payment during Phase A
Every week you receive an advance on your salary:- Using your BSN: hours worked × €11.00 net = advance payment
- Without a BSN: hours worked × €8.00 net = advance payment
- The advance payment applies to: hours worked and public holidays.
- Not included: illness, vacation days, waiting days, no-shows, etc.
- The advance payment will be transferred on Friday in the week after you have worked.
4-weekly salary payment
- Your full salary is paid once every 4 weeks on Friday.
- This payment covers any previous advance payments and any associated costs (such as ZEM)
- Please note that banks sometimes require additional processing time, which may delay the visibility of the amount.
Example of payments
| Work week | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Advance payment (Friday) | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 6 | ||
| 4-weekly salary payment | 1-4 |
Additional information
- Did you work for FHS more than 6 months ago?
Then you will start again in Phase A and receive weekly advances again. - Phase B and Phase C
During these phases, your salary will be paid every four weeks and you will no longer receive advances.
What is an advance payment?
An advance payment is a partial payment of your salary before the official payday. This allows you to cover your expenses while you wait for the full payment. With the 4-weekly salary payment, all advance payments are settled.
What is Phase A?
Phase A is the first phase for temporary workers and lasts for 52 weeks of work. During this period, you can have multiple short-term contracts. After Phase A, you move on to Phase B.

Information about the Netherlands
Some rules in the Netherlands are different from those in other European countries. We would like to inform you about these differences.
Pregnancy
In the Netherlands, you must work until 6 weeks before delivery. If you are ill, Dutch law requires our company to ensure that you can work for as long as possible. If you can no longer do your own work? Then you will be reported to the company doctor, who will indicate what work you can still do. We will arrange this work for you and you will perform it until you go on maternity leave. After the delivery you have 10 weeks of maternity leave. In total you get 16 weeks (paid) maternity leave. After these 16 weeks you have to go back to work. See also our extensive article about pregnancy in the Netherlands on our website.
Car
In the Netherlands, we have 2 types of car taxes: MRB (Motor Vehicle Tax) and BPM (Tax on passenger cars and motorcycles). These taxes may also apply to foreigners with foreign cars. This depends on where your “main” residence is located. This can be in your home country or in the Netherlands. It is up to you to demonstrate (if requested by the tax authorities or the police) where your “main” residence is. It also depends on how long you stay in the Netherlands with your car with a foreign license plate whether you have to pay tax or not.
Main residence outside the Netherlands:
MRB: Exemption for 6 months. After having resided in the Netherlands for 6 months, you are required to pay MRB to the Dutch tax authorities.
BPM: Exemption forever.
Main residence in the Netherlands:
Road tax: You must pay from the moment you have arranged your own home in the Netherlands, or are registered in the GBA/BRP (Government Basic Administration). The amount depends on the weight and fuel type of your car. The older, larger, and more polluting your car is, the more you often pay.
BPM: You must pay this tax when you have arranged your own accommodation, or you are registered in the GBA/BRP (Municipal Personal Records Database) with the municipality. The amount depends on the new price of the car and the age of the car.
You must inform the tax authorities yourself whether you have to pay tax or not. If you do not, you run the risk of being caught during a check by the police/tax authorities. You must then pay the tax, including a penalty of 50% to 100%. These amounts can be very high. So, pay close attention to whether you have to pay tax for your car or not.
No rights can be derived from the text above.
Always consult the website of the Dutch Tax Administration for the most up-to-date information.
On this page you will find documents in various languages regarding taxes for vehicles with foreign license plates.
